I made this video in response to this Christian one.

Two good challenges. I'm not a student of Van Til or Bahnsen so I'm not up on the presup clash but I do have one comment.

I think God's hardening Pharoah's heart is an instance of God working in accord with Pharoah's free will. The text says Pharoah "hardened his heart" first. The Hebrew for "hardened" also implies "to stengthen".

Sun shining on wax will soften it. Sun shining on clay will harden it. In a self-hardened heart, even God's goodness shining on it will strengthen the hardening.

The same with Satan and Judas. Judas was already in an uproar over money and "kindgom power". A little prompting from Satan and he was off and running.

So I don't think we have a biblical instance of God completely obliterating man's free will.

Kelly Tripplehorn's challenge, eh? The guy's a Dallas native, I think- or at least, includes Dallas in his stomping grounds. I wonder if he's free this Saturday...

kevin, your point is well-taken. However, my contention is not that those examples show a destruction of free will, but merely that interference with our free will is a live possibility.

"I think most Christians ignore these problems, or use their religion (faith) to ignore these problems" (paraphrase)

Exactly! If I ignore what I don't want to see, then the problem goes away; no problem! The basic message of religion is, "Don't think, we'll do that for you. All you need to do is obey."

I think many Theists are afraid that if they struggle with such questions they are demonstrating doubt, and this will piss off SuperInvisibleAlphaDaddy in the sky enough that he might drop a safe on their head or something. Lucky for me, I have a magic safe repuslsor. I keep it right next to my Tiger Whistle.

Really? I've read up on a few different religions and I haven't seen that one yet. Do you have any verses or anything that could point me in that direction?
